my first play ... "the bad kangaroos!"

"The Bad Kangaroos"
4:00 p.m. 27 July, 2K6 at Reed Whipple Cultural Center, Las Vegas, NV

... dictated by siobahn ...

my first line was "let's go to the candy store after class!"
my second line was "are we going to do anything fun today?"
my third line was "aw, come on!"
my fourth line, but i do this one with my friend analiese, "good one!"
my fifth line, also with analiese, "what rules?"

this play, the bad kangaroos, is about a school with two bad kangaroos that are playing tricks on the principal and the teacher.

first, the second kangaroo wants to glue the door knob so when the other students ran to the door, they got stuck when the firecrackers went off in the bathroom and then the second kangaroo decides to put the thumb tacks on the chair so that when the teacher sits down, she sits in a pile of tacks. next, the teacher enters the room. the teacher says, 'hello' and no body was absent. then the teacher sits in her chair and the teacher says "ouch" ... the teacher says, "if it was you two kangaroos playing tricks again, I will send you to the principal's office." the teachers goes to write on the blackboard, 'all right, your test is going to be twice as long" and the students groan.

the teacher turns to the board and the kangaroos start shooting spit wads at other students. all students start shooting spit wads and one hits the teacher in the head and she bumps her head and the students gasp. the teacher says 'just for that, i'm giving you a test on the rules too!' then firecrackers go off in the bathroom! all the students run to the door, pull on the knob and fall down.

the pincipal enters through the door and the principal says, 'what's all the commotion? quiet, please take your seats. who did this?' all the students point at the kangaroos. the teacher says, 'you're looking right at them.' the principal says, 'go home right now, you can expect me this evening.'

scene change. and everyone goes off the stage.

the directors change the stage and then the lights go back up. the principal visits the kangaroos' house. the mom opens the door, the principal comes in and sits down ... on a thumb tack. the principal yells, "ouch!" then firecrackers go off in the bathroom, again. the principal jumps up and runs to the door. the second kangaroo teases the principal and says 'pull hard, there are little globs of glue on all of our door knobs.' the principal breaks free and runs away.

for the end of the play the two kangaroos step up and say together "a child's conduct will reflect the ways his parents."

the lights go down, everyone comes back on stage and we take our bow.

... end of dictation...

mommy: so, what was your favorite part of doing the play?
siobahn: saying my lines.
mommy: which line was your favorite?
siobahn: 'are we going to do anything fun today?'
mommy: why?
siobahn: because i'm saying it to the teacher and the teacher is my friend at camp, alexis.
mommy: were you nervous?
siobahn: no.

siobahn: mommy, what was your favorite line that i said?
mommy: "what rules!"
siobahn: what was your favorite scene?
mommy: i loved the whole thing, especially watching you, but i loved the ending, when the moral of the story came out and then you all came out and took your bow.
